Machiavel – Jester
벨기에 그룹으로 미국 시장에 진출하여 성공을 거둔 록밴드로 이 마키아벨을 꼽을 수 있다. 77년 발표된 마키아벨의 2집 <Jester>는 한곡 한곡의 내용이 짙은, 듣는 이를 숨돌리지 못하게 하는 전개다. 벨기에의 심포닉록, 아니 유럽 전체에 있어서도 발군의 록그룹이다. 알베르토 르슈톨의 키보드군이 사운드의 핵을 이루고 있으며 때로는 수려하고, 때로는 강력한 보컬이 휘감긴다. 곡은 모두 영어다. 재킷이나 속에 첨부된 일러스트의 가사 카드에는 그들 특유의 음산함이 뜨겁게 달아오르는 곡전개는 뛰어나며 엔지니어링. 프로듀스도 단단히 꽉 짜여져 있는 3집 <Mechanical Moonbeams>는 한단계 더 발전한 형태를 띠고 있다.
